Nashville, TN – Our restaurant and bar area is looking for an energetic, professional Maitre D’ leader who has an excellent track record in hospitality and who thrives in a fast-paced service environment. The focus is on professionalism and providing a superior customer experience. The ideal candidate must possess in depth knowledge about food & beverage in addition to superior customer relations skills and have excellent communication to build a rapport with guests. This position provides/ensures proper training and supervision of all personnel including assistant managers and supervisors and guarantees prompt, courteous service in a manner that complies with the Fairlane Hotel’s policies and procedures.


Job Skills:

  • Able to communicate clearly in and possess a good command of verbal and written English – additional language skills (Spanish, French or Italian) would be a distinct advantage and benefit
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience working within a 4 / 5* establishment as Maitre D’or 2 years or head/lead server
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to understand and respond to individual guests needs and requirements
  • A genuine interest and understanding in food and drink – wine and cocktail knowledge is essential
  • Exceptional communication and presentational skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Ability to think on your feet and under pressure while maintaining a positive outlook and attention to detail
  • Able to organize time effectively, forward plan and prioritize tasks to ensure work load is balanced and urgent situations are dealt with immediately
  • Ability to multitask on the go
  • Ability to work as part of a small team, independently and use initiative
  • A natural ability and confidence to sell / promote is a distinct

A degree of flexibility is required within this important role and will include the following tasks on a daily/weekly basis Job Role:

  • Showing guests to tables during lunch & dinner service
  • Greeting and escorting guests with a professional and positive attitude
  • Oversea the flow of guests within the restaurant
  • Manage the reservations and shift team
  • Liaison between kitchen staff and floor staff
  • Maintain ambience of restaurant – lighting, music, cleanliness, hygiene
  • Oversea and pro-actively deal with guest queries and complaints
  • Advising guests on menus & beverage choices
  • Checking and dealing with guests’ special occasion arrangements e.g. Birthdays, Anniversaries, Honeymoon, Weddings
  • Promote special In-House events e.g. winemaker dinners, cocktails, tasting sessions

PERSONALITY: Outgoing, confident, positive, focused, mature, reliable, empathetic, attentive, discreet, responsible and accountable, team player but equally able to work independently and without supervision, well presented


  • Move, bend, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance
  • Stand or walk for an extended period or for an entire work shift
  • Requires repetitive motion
