Sewanee, TN –  The Housekeeping Houseperson is responsible for maintaining the overall cleanliness and appearance of the Hotel.  The Houseperson must work to ensure we are consistently exceeding our guest’s expectations by providing quality service in a timely and friendly manner.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.


  • Clean and maintain the cleanliness and appearance of public areas and guest room corridors to include Hotel Lobby, hallways, public areas, and restrooms
  • Clean and maintain the back of the house area, including employee break room, the hotel laundry room, employee restroom, or other applicable areas as assigned
  • Assist Guest Room Attendants/Housekeepers where necessary
  • Remove all trash or linen from guest rooms and public areas where necessary
  • Quickly respond to all guest and team member requests for assistance in a timely and friendly manner
  • Welcome and acknowledge all guests per company standards
  • Anticipate and address guests’ service needs
  • Thank guests with genuine appreciation
  • Speak with others using clear and professional language
  • Answer telephones and/or radios using appropriate etiquette
  • Ensure uniform and personal appearance is clean and professional
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and protect company assets
  • Speak with others using clear and professional language
  • Establishes and maintains open, collaborative relationships with employees and fellow management team members
  • Perform all reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors/Managers

Job Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a Hotel or a related field preferred
  • Significant attention to detail
  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, & stooping
  • Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time
  • Has a flexible schedule that can work any shifts. Assists with staffing coverage in the instance of call-offs
  • Adheres to all company Standard/Conduct policies and procedures
  • Follows the company’s employee hand book for rules and regulations
