Charleston, SC – The primary responsibilities of the Housekeeping Manager is to Assist in the direction and management of the daily operations of the Housekeeping department. This is a multi-property position for The Spectator Hotel and French Quarter Inn, two sister luxury boutique hotels.


  • The successful operation of the Housekeeping Department of two luxury boutique hotels (91 total rooms)
  • Lead and inspire staff to perform at the highest standards of luxury service, in line with standards comparable to AAA 5 diamond and Forbes 5 stars
  • Develop and foster a strong orientation toward customer service and quality by expanding and improving service quality throughout both hotels
  • Under the direction of the Director of Housekeeping: Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of all areas of the Housekeeping Department including: interviewing, hiring, training, staffing, assigning, and directing work, scheduling, addressing complaints, and resolving service issues
  • Create strategies to reduce costs while maximizing productivity without reduction of consistency and Quality Standards
  • Improve efficiency of laundry operations
  • Monitor sustainability and recycling efforts of both hotels and initiate creative solutions to further improve hotel sustainability
  • Oversee inventory of linen and other departmental related supplies, conducting monthly inventory and make adjustments as needed
  • Create, implement and maintain the highest level of cleanliness and safety policies for all Housekeeping staff
  • Oversee Housekeeping departmental matters as they relate to federal, state and local employment and civil rights laws.
  • Monitor and review of Quality Standards for the Department through daily inspections of vacant and stayover rooms as well as inspections of all public areas
  • Analyze multiple channels of guest and quality assurance feedback, communicating them to the Housekeeping team and taking corrective actions
  • Maintain open lines of communication, delegating responsibilities, working with other related departments and reporting to senior management
  • Actively promote a work environment which genuinely cares for guests and associates
  • Effectively communicate and enforce company rules and regulations
  • This position directly manages assigned staff and indirectly manages all subordinates
  • This position reports directly to the Director of Housekeeping, under the direction of the General Manager


  • 2 to 3 years of hotel experience including 1 year of Housekeeping experience required
  • Luxury hotel experience strongly preferred
  • Previous managerial experience strongly preferred
  • Proficient experience in RoomKey PMS, and Quore are preferred
  • Flexible schedule is required and must be willing to work nights, weekends, holidays and other dates that meet the demands of luxury hotel environment
  • Excellent verbal and written English language skills required
  • Strength in organizational administrative and time management skills
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Performance driven, assertive, and a self-motivator
  • vMove, lift carry, push, pull and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisor
