Elon, NC- The Executive Chef is responsible for the overall dining experience for both the restaurant and banquet facilities at the Inn at Elon. The Executive Chef will oversee the culinary and stewarding departments, menus, plating and banquet presentations.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for ensuring that each dish presented is of the highest quality and represents the Inn at Elon
  • Source seasonal, local ingredients and incorporate into menu offerings
  • Ensure all food is properly handled in accordance to standards of NC Department of Health
  • Contribute to annual business plan development and maintain overall expenses and costs throughout the year
  • Ensure cleanliness and upkeep of kitchen and equipment is maintained
  • Perform monthly inventory counts
  • Interview, hire, train, supervise and motivate all Culinary staff
  • Work closely with Director of Sales, Director of Food and Beverage and other hotel departments to drive revenue and enhance guest service
  • Professionally represent the hotel in community and industry organizations and events
  • Meet with potential clients and coordinate customized tastings
  • Speak with restaurant patrons and ensure dining experiences are exceeding expectations

GUEST SERVICE & SATISFACTION

  • Responsible for Guest Service scores related to the food and beverage experience, review the scores with the staff, and note areas for improvement
  • Handle guest feedback and special requests, resolve any guest issue, and respond to guest reviews
  • Demonstrate a commitment to servicing the guest and takes initiative to speak to all guests
  • Show personal control by maintaining a positive attitude, and staying calm and patient in all situations

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Culinary degree and five years of hotel restaurant or banquets experience preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Significant attention to detail
  • Desire to learn and implement new culinary trends
