Sewanee, TN – The Lounge Supervisor will supervise employees in the daily operations of the lounge to achieve customer satisfaction, quality service, compliance with company policies and procedures and federal, state and local regulations, while meeting / exceeding financial goals. The Lounge Supervisor is accountable for ensuring that guest interactions with Lounge employees are handled properly, and that the experience is a pleasant one for the guest.  This is accomplished by overseeing employee/guest interactions and interceding when necessary.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.



  • Engage and encourage staff creativity
  • Ensure that there is a special cocktail/drink of the day and that it is communicated to guests, lounge staff and restaurant servers
  • Deliver a consistently high level of customer service to each client and maintain a safe environment by identifying problem clients and having them removed
  • Mix all drinks based on the serving sizes as outlined in the company manual to keep drink costs at a minimum
  • Develop an efficient work pace that keeps the customers at the bar and in the dining room satisfied at all times
  • Ensure the freshest ingredients and garnishes are used
  • Make recommendations and answer all related inquiries
  • Check identification of customers to verify they are of legal drinking age
  • Ensure all staff is recording drink orders accurately into register system
  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks in accordance with standard recipes
  • Ensure that alcohol pours, mixing and garnish cocktails according to standard specs
  • Ensure snacks are being served to customers seated at the bar
  • Train and ensure staff is upselling drinks and lounge menu items.
  • Respond promptly to requests from customers in a polite and professional fashion
  • Attempt to limit problems related to customers’ excessive drinking by following established procedures
  • Arrange glasses and bottles into attractive and functional displays
  • Ensure clean glasses, bar equipment and working areas
  • Comply with all health, safety and hygiene standards and policies
  • Balance the cash register at the start and close of each shift
  • Monitor inventory
  • Order and restock bar inventory

Job Requirements

  • Two years bartending lead preferred
  • Minimum age requirement of 21 years
  • Working knowledge of standard drink recipes
  • Working knowledge of spirits, wine and beer
  • Understanding of classes of alcohol, different glasses, brand names and garnishments
  • Working knowledge of bar equipment
  • Knowledge and education in mixology recommended
  • Numeracy and cash-handling skills
  • Able to work flexible schedules
  • Able to work in a standing position for long periods
  • Be able to reach and bend and frequently lift up to 30 pounds
