Charleston, SC – The Corporate Director of Communications must have a creative mindset, current technology and digital media knowledge along with the ability to interpret our value proposition and market needs to write/create compelling content. The ideal candidate will build strategic, integrated communications programs related to company initiatives, corporate strategy and long-term vision that apply creative tactics across a variety of external and internal communication channels. This person will collaborate and communicate effectively with the internal Charlestowne Executive team – including Marketing, Operations, Revenue Management, Development and Finance teams. He/She will shape stories and messages that resonate with all of Charlestowne Hotel’s key stakeholder and target audiences.

Duties & Responsibilities of this role include:

  • Deeply understand Charlestowne’s hospitality management innovation, processes, and solutions in-order to develop communication resources for a wide range of audiences (current properties/owners, potential properties/owners, vendors, partners, press, internal executive team, etc.)
  • Learn the hospitality industry, specifically focused on how third-party operators obtain leads and manage current assets
  • Translate complex processes, data, and concepts into meaningful content
  • Lead and serve as Charlestowne’s #1 brand steward, assuring our core messaging and positioning is consistent in all channels
  • Develop an internal communication strategic plan (alongside the Corporate HR Manager) focused on communicating effectively to our 1,700+ employees
  • Equip Charlestowne Executive Team to deliver compelling and persuasive messages for internal and external speaking opportunities by helping to clarify and develop content outlines
  • Support the VP of Development and executive team on creating presentations, RFP’s and pitch decks for new business opportunities
  • Develop and execute content emails, weekly social media content as well as updating our website accordingly
  • Partner with Charlestowne’s Public Relations firm specifically focused on reviewing and editing content and press releases
  • Effective B2B content creation, copywriting for a variety of marketing channels; presentations, newsletters, communications/bulletins, websites, press releases, social media, and other identified media, with emphasis on original writing and editing to support marketing efforts

Requirements:

  • Ability to handle highly sensitive information with discretion
  • Expert-level writing, spelling and grammar skills – solid knowledge of AP style with ability to adapt to brand voice
  • 5+ years digital content development experience
  • Creative and analytic aptitude along with strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines in fast paced environment
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to interact effectively in a team environment with both internal and external customers
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of social media trends and effective social engagement

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years’ experience with Creative Suite – Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator and HTML or comparable software suite
  • 3+ years’ experience in a B2B marketing/marketing communications role
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Journalism/Communications
  • Marketing automation experience
  • Hospitality experience
