Charleston, SC – The primary responsibility of a Concierge/F&B Hostess is to graciously welcome guests, offering them information, direction and guidance in a friendly, professional and efficient manner while effectively managing the flow of traffic in and around the lobby during times of wine & cheese reception as well as the scheduled shift times. As a Concierge/Hostess you are an ambassador of the Guest Services Team as well as the Food & Beverage team. This is a key role in guest relations and requires finesse, courtesy and Charleston knowledge.

Part of the shift will be covered behind the desk assisting the Concierge team in the daily operational needs; the other part of the shift will cover being a F&B liaison to facilitate our receptions, promote our services and assist guests in requests, dining questions, and recommendations.

Task and Responsibilities:

  • Provide our guests with an exceptional arrival experience that makes them feel welcome by offering them a welcome cocktail or any offering during one of the many receptions hosted by French Quarter Inn
  • Remain stationed in the lobby during busy times in the lobby to assist in handling guest interactions especially to minimize wait times at the front desk
  • Assist the actual Concierge behind desk during busy times/ wait times/ lines to further demonstrate being part of the Concierge team
  • Engage each guest to provide superior service, offering a salutation whenever a guest comes within 10 feet of you and starting a conversation as time allows
  • Provide directions, answer questions about the hotel and local area
  • Assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the common areas of the hotel by clearing glasses, picking up any garbage, straightening furniture, and communicating with housekeeping
  • Ensure the ladies’ room is well stocked especially for the receptions hosted in the lobby and inform Housekeeping when attention is needed in that area
  • Share information about the guests gained during conversation with the Concierge and Valets, and documents guest information in RoomKey/KeepandShare diary and guests’ profile for future use. Report any suspicious behavior or non-guest loitering to the management
  • Provide concierge services by getting to know the guest and offering suggestions to enhance their time in Charleston. Give directions, discuss any tour options, and serve as an ambassador for the city to the guest
  • Guide and teach other team members on these duties when needed to ensure consistency in service levels as well as a proactive approach to ensure coverage at all times
  • Demonstrate a team like spirit by working closely with the F&B PM staff in and outside of the kitchen including assisting in ensuring that dirty dishware gets cleaned and assist in that area when needed
  • Communicate and assist kitchen staff effectively when needing assistance in serving guests, clearing used reception dinnerware, needing clean dinnerware or food or beverage contents

Minimum Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Must have ability to courteously present information to people in one-on-one and group situations
  • Must possess a positive attitude and the ability to work with a variety of people and in cooperation with coworkers efficiently and effectively
  • Must be able to work under pressure or in the presence of a large guest crowd during offered guest receptions and maintain a courteous and hospitable demeanor and attitude throughout
  • Must be able to maintain a courteous and hospitable demeanor and attitude towards all: guests, peers, management without regard of home department, position and/ or heritage
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and multi-task
  • Ability to easily adapt to organizational and environmental changes
  • Must be flexible to working days, early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Report to work at the scheduled time, neatly groomed and in regulation with company dress code policy
  • Adhere to all regulatory, company and department policies and procedures
  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 5 pounds without assistance
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors and MOD
