Clemson, SC – We are looking for energetic people to join our team and contribute to our success by providing customer service that exceeds the guests’ expectations. The Abernathy Baristas are expected to provide guests with prompt service, quality beverages and products, and maintain a clean and comfortable environment all while promoting a positive vibe.

Please note, this position would be needed from 6 AM to NOON two days per week – with possible additional hours. The Abernathy offers a great family work environment with competitive wages!

Summary of Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Act in a manner that promotes the culture, values and mission of The Abernathy
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm during periods of high volume, setting a positive example for the team
  • Provide quality guest experiences by building rapport, remembering guests by name and favorite beverage
  • Ability to deliver positive guest experiences while utilizing the point of sale system
  • Adhere to all recipe and presentation standards following rules for health, safety and sanitation
  • Communicate effectively with team members in regards to store, employee and customer needs
  • Ability to prepare coffee, espresso and tea beverages to hotels exacting and high standards while serving the finest pastries available
  • Following the employee handbook, operational policies and procedures and maintaining store cleanliness
  • Recognize and reinforce individual and team accomplishments by using existing tools
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Previous customer service/ café experience
  • A passion for coffee
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to follow direction and work with all levels of management
  • Ability to build relationships with customers in a team based environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and, at times, noisy café environment
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and actively move around the café
