One of the core values at Charlestowne Hotels has always been giving back to our communities. In the past this has been done on a case by case basis. From participating in the Global Soap Project to one-off donations to charities to sponsoring and participating in numerous fundraisers, Charlestowne has always sought out ways to give back.

To that end, Charlestowne Hotels announced their first formal corporate philanthropic partnership in December. One80 Place has served the homeless community in Charleston since 1984. What started as a simple shelter has become a critical resource for helping Charleston’s homeless find everything from a hot meal and a place to stay, to medical and legal services, to good employment and permanent housing. With targeted programs specific to the needs of individuals, veterans, and families, One80 Place has grown to be a national example of how to compassionately and effectively serve the homeless community and work toward ending homelessness altogether. With a focus on care and hospitality, albeit in a very different way, One80 Place and Charlestowne Hotels have quite a bit in common, which both parties saw as a natural fit.

Moving into 2017, Charlestowne Hotels has committed to raise $10,000 by June, in addition to providing support in the form of volunteer opportunities, donation drives, and more. The company has already begun rolling out several new programs to assist their mission as well as raise money for this worthy cause, including a voluntary program to allow employees to make donations via payroll deductions, a competitive “Penny Challenge” that allows internal departments to put their spare change to good use, and additional fundraising opportunities incorporated into planned corporate events.
