Charleston, SC – The valet welcomes guests and members to the HarbourView Inn, offers to park and retrieve their car, offers information about check-in, opens and closes car doors and hotel entrance doors. He/she is to provide excellent customer service, and efficiently and carefully parking guest(s) vehicles in designated locations. Our valets are the first and last point of contact for guests and members and should promote the legacy of warm, southern genuine hospitality. Our valets must uphold and ensure compliance with all company and departmental policies and procedures.  Both full and part-time positions are available.

Task and Responsibilities:

  • Greet guests, members, team members, shuttles, and transportation vehicles at entrance and open doors
  • Learn the names and personally recognize our regular guests
  • Facilitate the parking and retrieval of guests’ cars with the valet on duty
  • Assist guests and other employees with check-ins and check-outs when necessary
  • Assist the F&B, Doorman, and Concierge staff with policing the area for trash and keeping the front area clean and presentable
  • Provide an orientation of the hotel guest’s rooms while addressing in-room and hotel amenities
  • Provide clear walking and driving directions for the local area with or without use of a map
  • Answer guest questions in person, over the phone, and via email
  • Record, process, and follow up on all actionable items
  • Assist guests/visitors in and out of vehicles, including assisting guests with loading/unloading luggage
  • Communicate parking procedures to guests/visitors
  • Assist guests with carrying of articles into the entrance/lobby
  • Promote all hotel functions and facilities along with providing directions to guests
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of dining options, shops, local attractions, and historical information about the city of Charleston and surrounding areas to answer any questions a guest may have
  • Reports all maintenance issues and safety hazards to a supervisor

Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience in a hotel or resort environment preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Must have ability to courteously present information to people in one-on-one and group situations
  • Must possess a positive attitude and have the ability to work with a variety of people and in cooperation with coworkers efficiently and effectively
  • Ability to easily adapt to organizational and environmental changes
  • Adhere to all regulatory, company and department policies and procedures
  • Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions including wind, rain, cold, snow, heat, etc.
  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 70 pounds without assistance and stand for prolonged periods of time

Candidate must be flexible to working days, early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.  This position must report to work at the scheduled time, neatly groomed and in regulation with company dress code policy.
