Clemson, SC – The restaurant server position is to serve food to our guests in a personable, courteous and professional manner ensuring a positive dining experience.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Will be thoroughly familiar with all standards of proper service etiquette and will adhere to these standards throughout our guests’ dining experience
  • No cell phones or personal calls except in emergencies. No smoking during service, no gum chewing anytime
  • Attend all scheduled staff meetings and supplemental training sessions
  • Be aware of all liquor laws as well as company and departmental policies regarding consumption of alcoholic beverages
  • Be familiar with emergency safety measures including the Heimlich maneuver and fire evacuation procedures
  • Have a strong working knowledge of the POS ordering system and other check processing procedures for dining room service
  • Know all menu items including ingredients, preparation, required condiments and specific service
  • Will expediently take orders from guests and expedite as soon as prepared from kitchen
  • Check side duty list for opening and closing duties
  • Obtain own condiments, beverages, etc., after guests have finished, pre-bus table
  • Obtain completed check from POS and present to guest. Finalize check in system according to method of settlement
  • Obtain service report from POS and finalize all settlement transactions
  • Will be responsible and held accountable for all unsigned checks and will report these to the manager
  • Determine gratuity distribution according to set departmental standards
  • Clearing tables, speaking with the guests, delivering room service trays, and cleaning/restocking the food and drink display areas
  • Answer guest questions and provide accurate information about hotel amenities and points of interest within the surrounding area
  • Accommodate guest requests for dietary or allergy restrictions
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas, china, glass, etc., throughout the day
  • Maintain cleanliness of guest areas by clearing, collecting and returning food and beverage items to proper area
  • Additional responsibilities include creating and replacing floral arrangements for the public spaces, set up and servicing of meeting rooms, and checking in food orders
  • Complete closing duties, including storing all reusable goods, breaking down goods, cleaning all equipment and areas, returning equipment to proper locations, locking refrigerators, restocking items, turning off lights, locking doors, and completing daily cleaning checklist
  • Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager
  • Ensure uniform and personal appearance is clean and professional; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets
  • Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards; anticipate and address guests’ service needs; assist individuals with disabilities; thank guests with genuine appreciation
  • Speak with others using clear and professional language; answer telephones using appropriate etiquette
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others
  • Comply with quality assurance expectations and standards. Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time
  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he/she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

  • Previous food and beverage experience required
  • Good physical condition in order to lift moderate weights and remain on feet for prolonged period of time
  • A sincere desire to provide the utmost in guest service
  • Solid interpersonal and communication skills
  • Pleasant personality to effectively deal with guests questions and service, and to contribute to the overall atmosphere of teamwork with fellow employees
  • Strong attention to detail a must
  • Well-groomed appearance according to company standards
