Description

Nashville, TN – The Host is to ensure all guests are greeted and seated in a friendly and courteous manner using appropriate procedures, in accordance with the Fairlane Hotel’s policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Knowledge, Training, & Work Experience)

  • Prior experience preferred
  • Excellent customer service skills

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist managers in opening and closing including any signage, hours of operation, lighting of room and general assistance with set-up procedures
  • Assist staff in maintaining cleanliness of restaurant; including bussing and re-setting tables, keeping the floors clean and maintaining overall neatness of the entire area
  • Ensure phone is answered in a timely manner/ check voicemail
  • Greet and seat guests with a smile and small talk, use names when possible
  • Control heavy volume at restaurant entrance
  • Inform the guest about any specials using proper verbiage
  • Introduce servers to their guests and/or provide servers names when seating
  • Attend to and anticipate guests’ needs
  • Familiarization with menu
  • Maintain knowledge of daily specials and/or daily soups
  • Assist in closing guest checks with proper in-house or comp and general cashier duties
  • Keep host stand and RESY up to date and organized, including calendars, schedules and associate notifications
  • Keep host stand stocked with essentials
  • Take reservations with proper procedure and keep reservation book up to date
  • Complete daily and weekly side-work as assigned

HOTEL SPECIFIC ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Respond to any reasonable task as assigned by manager
  • Dust/Wipe down furniture and granite in host stand area. Assist in maintaining cleanliness of area, including tables and banquets
  • Aid guests in locating other areas of the hotel (walk them to destination if possible)
  • Familiarity with parking validation procedures
  • Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions; complete safety training and certifications
  • Follow all company policies and procedures
  • Ensure clean uniform and professional personal appearance
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information
  • Protect company assets
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others
  • Support team to reach common goals
  • Listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees
  • Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards
  • Identify, recommend, develop, and implement new ways to increase organizational efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, and/or cost-savings

ENVIRONMENT and POSITION ANALYSIS

  • Move, bend, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance
  • Stand or walk for an extended period or for an entire work shift
  • Requires repetitive motion.

  • Desktop computer, printer, telephone, fax, copier, telephone, to include other office supplies and equipment
