Atlanta, GA – The Event Sales Manager (ESM) is responsible for selling and servicing the special event experience of the Hotel Clermont and work directly with our clients to build their perfect event or meeting. The primary focus for the ESM will be developing a partnership with our corporate & social clients from an inbound and outbound perspective to maximize total hotel revenue. The ESM is expected to continually build these relationships through community engagement, sales activity and a heavy focus on repeat bookings.

Primary Functions and Responsibilities:  

  • Strives to deliver an unparalleled guest experience from inquiry stage to post-event follow up
  • Partners with DOS (Director of Sales) to foster a fun and engaging work environment, leading by example
  • Actively participates in on property committees in an effort to build on, maintain and improve the team member culture of the Fairlane Hotel
  • Open and eager to learn new sales skills
  • Works in collaboration with other departments with heavy involvement with food and beverage team
  • Proactively strives to maintain high levels of quality, accuracy, and process consistency in the sales organization
  • Works to ensure all organization objectives assigned by the DOS are completed in a timely fashion
  • Proactively identifies opportunities for sales process improvement and communicates them clearly with the DOS
  • Works in tandem with Operations Team to ensure flawless execution for ALL events
    • This includes all communication on any changes/updates to events and any specific needs for a successful event based on the guests’ expectation
  • Proactively engages in outbound sales activity in an effort to grow event sales
    • Measurable plans to be made in coordination with the DOS’ direction for such activity
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies such as Chamber of Commerce, Convention and Visitors Bureaus, etc. to drive awareness of the Fairlane brand, as directed by the DOS
  • Working knowledge of CRM and PMS programs
  • Proficient in coaching techniques and able to assist with training of junior team members
  • Knowledge of, demonstrates and teaches strong negotiation skills
  • Strong interpersonal, people and communication skills to include the ability to write and verbally communicate in a clear and concise manner
  • Solid organizational and project management skill sets
  • Capable of managing multiple projects/programs simultaneously, while remaining calm under pressure
  • Excellent pace and energy, self-motivated
  • Strong ability to establish working relationships with all employees, management and vendors and ability to maintain and project professionalism, internally and externally, at all times
  • Exercises good judgment in decision-making
  • Flexible in approach; can readily adapt to business and team needs and changes
  • Excellent self-accountability for high personal standards of conduct and professionalism
  • Process-oriented, highly organized, fast and accurate, able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines

Physical requirements:

  • Long hours sometimes required
  • Light work – exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects

Education & Experience:

  • 3+ years of sales experience, industry experience strongly preferred with strong catering focus
  • Undergraduate degree, preferred
  • Must have a valid driver’s license in the applicable state
  • Must be skilled in Windows, Company approved spreadsheets, and word processing
  • Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written with all level of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests
  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines
  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner
  • Attend all hotel required meetings and training
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with company standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel
