Charleston, SC –  The DoubleTree by Hilton Housekeeping Supervisor ensures that all rooms and public space of the hotel are cleaned to the DoubleTree’s standards and for supervising the daily tasks of the housekeeping department.  The Housekeeping Supervisor shall strive to provide exceptional service to both internal and external guests at all times. S/he will be responsible for exemplifying the DoubleTree Culture.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Supervise the scheduling, cleaning, and inspection of all DoubleTree guest rooms and public space
  • Ensure that all departmental Standard Operating Procedures are adhered to by all associates within the department. Responsible for taking action when standards are not upheld and perform praise when standards exceed expectations
  • Make certain that assignments are appropriately staffed and that employees have adequate supplies and equipment for completion of assignments
  • Conduct comprehensive inspections to check the completion of work assignments
  • Discuss general housekeeping procedures with personnel of the assigned area; recommend and implement changes in procedures
  • Take necessary action to correct any mechanical, structural, or other engineering condition in need of repair or replacement
  • Monitor and ensure the training of new personnel
  • Recommend to management various personnel action, including but not limited to, performance appraisals and discipline. With management, supervisor must be prepared to perform personnel action with associates
  • Know all staffs work responsibilities and be able to work these positions when necessary
  • Assist with the training, supervision and motivation of all housekeeping staff
  • Assist with organizing regular departmental staff meetings
  • Perform daily pre-shift meeting for AM and PM staff
  • Inspects VIP units prior to arrivals
  • Ensures all housekeeping equipment is in proper working order
  • Works with Director of Housekeeping to order supplies and equipment
  • Knows all safety and emergency procedures and their role in assisting during these times
  • Perform ongoing quality inspections of units and take corrective action as needed to address quality deficiencies particularly in regards to housekeeping issues
  • Coordinate daily operational needs with front office and property management staff
  • Perform minor and general maintenance functions as required
  • Follows through on lost and found procedures
  • Maintains constant awareness of safety issues (such as leaky faucets or toilets, loose tile, broken window panes, missing nuts or screws, beds needing repair, etc.) and reports all safety incidents to on-duty supervisor
  • Reports to work on time and according to posted schedule, maintains accurate time records and follows proper standards for issuance of rooms
  • Offers warm and sincere welcome/farewell for all guests of DoubleTree by Hilton including use of guest name & good eye contact with each guest
  • Maintains an up to date working knowledge of all resort amenities as well as any special events
  • Interacts with resort staff in a professional manner, assisting other departments with necessary information
  • Communicates all pertinent information to the housekeeping team
  • Remains alert, courteous and helpful to the guests and colleagues at all times
  • Acts with responsibility towards all company property, supplies and equipment
  • Attend all monthly and required resort meetings
  • Maintains a professional appearance and follows all DoubleTree dress code standards

Experience & Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • At least one year housekeeping/custodial supervisory experience preferred
  • Prior hospitality experience preferred
  • At least one year customer service experience preferred

Job Requirments:

  • Must be a United States citizen or possess a valid work permit
  • Must have a valid South Carolina drivers license and meet company driving standards
  • Must have excellent phone etiquette
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
  • Must have strong computer skills
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Must be highly detailed orientated
  • Must have strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Must have exceptional detail in follow-up
  • Must be able to work well under pressure
  • Must be able to accurately follow instructions, both verbally and written
  • Must possesses excellent communication skills
  • Must be professional in appearance and demeanor
  • Must have excellent listening skills
  • Must always ensure a teamwork environment
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends and holidays

  • Must have a passion for creating an exceptional experience for all guests

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to stand on feet throughout the shift, with intermittent periods of walking
  • Must be able to occasionally lift, carry, push & pull up to 50 lbs with assistance
  • Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand & arm movements frequently, and squeezing & overhead reaching occasionally
  • Must be able to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, walk on uneven surfaces on an occasional basis
  • While primarily an indoor job, must be able to walk outside in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, heat)
  • Must be able to climb stairs occasionally, both indoors and outside in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, heat)
